Gary Paxson, President and CEO of White River Health is excited to introduce Kathy Thomas, MSN, RN, CPHRM, CHC, as the new Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Safety Officer at Stone County Medical Center (SCMC).
White River Health recently wrapped up the annual 5K Run/Walk. The event brought 174 registered runners and walkers, 60 virtual participants, and raised over $20,000 to support local schools’ food pantries.
White River Health, White River Medical Center is recognized as a Gold Safe Sleep Hospital, the highest designation, by the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program for their commitment to infant safe sleep best practices and education. The National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification Program was created by Cribs for Kids®, a national infant safe sleep organization.
The White River Health Foundation Golf Classic raised more than $107,000 for White River Health Cancer Detection and Treatment Services. On Saturday, September 17, 27 teams competed at The Course at Eagle Mountain. The Golf Classic was sponsored by 44 businesses and individuals.
Fall is returning to Batesville, and with that comes HealthFirst, the annual women’s health event hosted by White River Health (WRH) and First Community Bank (FCB). FCB and WRH have partnered to offer an event focused on women’s health. For the first time since the start of COVID-19, this year’s HealthFirst Women’s Health Event will be indoors. HealthFirst Women’s Health Event will be presented at the Batesville Community Center on Tuesday, October 11th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. This year’s event theme, “Wild About Your Health,” will be full of jungle-filled fun, taking women on a safari to help navigate the many aspects of their health.

The Stone County Primary Care Clinic, soon to be the White River Health Family Care, is proud to welcome Robin Franke, APRN, FNP-C. Robin is currently seeing patients. As an APRN, Robin will provide primary care, including wellness exams, to patients of all ages. She is focused on providing quality care to residents of Mountain View and surrounding areas, as well as maintaining direct communication with her patients and the healthcare community.
Mitchell Keel, MD, was recently welcomed as an Internal Medicine provider at the Newport Diagnostic Medical Clinic, soon to be White River Health Family Care. He joins Marlo Hargrave, APRN, Family Medicine. In her practice, Marlo treats patients of all ages and has served the Jackson County area since 2018.

White River Health (WRH) hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony for a new facility dedicated to continuing orthopaedic excellence at White River Health Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine, previously known as WRMC Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Clinic. The new facility is being constructed on the White River Medical Center campus on what is currently the walking track.
Survival Flight and White River Medical Center (WRMC) are proud to be working together to ensure the patients of Independence County and the surrounding areas have enhanced care when suffering from a severe heart attack. Survival Flight and WRMC both recently received training on the Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP). An IABP is a type of therapeutic device that will assist your heart in pumping more blood, mitigating the damages caused by heart attacks and a related condition called cardiogenic shock.
