SCMC Receives Five Stars

Administrator News

(Mountain View, Ark.) – Stone County Medical Center (SCMC) is proud to announce it has received a five star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). This rating is re-evaluated quarterly. SCMC was the only facility in North Central Arkansas and only one of four hospitals in Arkansas to receive this rating during the most recent revaluation of ratings.

CMS provides ratings using five categories: mortality, patient experience, readmission, safety of care, and timely and effective care. Based on reported numbers in each category, CMS calculates a weighted average to combine the five group scores into a single hospital summary score. The CMS provides rankings for over 4,500 hospitals in the country.

“We are honored to receive this recognition,” said Joseph Smotherman, SCMC Chief Operating Officer and White River Health Executive Vice President/Chief Strategy Officer. “Our employees are dedicated to providing quality care for our patients and their families. We are proud to earn this achievement.”

Stone County Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving Mountain View and the surrounding area. SCMC is an affiliate of White River Health, a multi-facility not-for-profit organization serving North Central Arkansas.
