White River Medical Center (WRMC) appreciates and admires Nurses, Patient Care Techs (PCTs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) who go above and beyond the call of duty to make a positive difference in the lives of their patients and co-workers. The DAISY and Helping Hands Awards recognize and honor Nurses, PCTs, and CNAs for making WRMC a great place to receive patient care and work.
Each DAISY Award and Helping Hands Honoree is recognized at a ceremony in her/his unit and receives a certificate, a DAISY Award or Helping Hands pin, and other gifts.

You may ask your caregiver for a nomination form. Employees, Nurses, and Physicians are also welcomed to nominate their coworkers.
About the DAISY Foundation
The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at the age of 33. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.) During Pat’s eight-week hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided not only to Pat but to everyone in his family. So, one of the goals they set in creating a Foundation in Pat’s memory was to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people by the super-human work they do every day.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by Nurses every day.
About the Helping Hands Award
The Helping Hands Award recognizes Patient Care Techs or Certified Nursing Assistants involved in direct patient care who excel in their roles to provide exceptional patient care and interactions. Honorees are recognized as true team members, positive role models, and professionals who are consistently caring and compassionate.
