WRH to Host Free Prostate Cancer Screening in Mountain View

(Batesville, Ark) – Stone County Medical Center (SCMC) is hosting a free Prostate Cancer Screening event on Monday, April 6, from 5-7PM at White River Health Specialty Care, located inside SCMC. SCMC is hosting the event in association with Drs. Robert Emery, Thomas Soehner, Joel Ubeda, and APRN Rowan Cairns, all from White River Health Surgery Clinic.
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the United States and is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men. 9 out of 10 men survive prostate cancer if it is detected early. Each man’s risk of prostate cancer can vary. It is recommended that men start prostate cancer screenings at age 50. Those with a higher risk, including African American men and men with an immediate relative diagnosed with prostate cancer, should start screenings earlier.
The American Cancer Society estimates about 333,830 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2026. If detected early, the five-year survival rate for localized prostate cancer is nearly 100%.
While the prostate cancer screening is free, appointments must be made in advance. To make an appointment, call (870) 262-1834.
White River Health Surgery Clinic offers several treatment options for men diagnosed with prostate cancer. Men should consult a Urologist to discuss treatment options.
