White River Health provides inpatient and outpatient behavioral healthcare. Our approach is based on dignity and respect for the people we serve and the belief that mental illness is treatable. Treatment plans are individualized to meet the needs of each patient and may include medication and/or therapy.

Community Resources

White River Health Behavioral Health Services provide a Community Support telephone line to discuss mental health, self-care recommendations, information about community resources, medical assistance, and more. This is a free service of White River Health System. Someone is available to take your call Monday thru Friday from 10 am until 2 pm. Call (870) 262- HOPE(4673)


White River Health System Psychiatric Care Departments

Senior Haven, White River Medical Center's inpatient Geriatric Psychiatry unit, is an environment of healing for senior adults affected by emotional and or behavioral conditions. The program is designed to provide support and stability during times of a mental health crisis. We provide the opportunity for each patient to develop living skills for comfort, happiness, health, and safety. The average stay for patients in Senior Haven is 10 to 14 days. 

Our primary goal is to improve each patient’s quality of life by addressing the emotional, psychological, and social needs of older adults. Care plans, based on the unique needs of each patient, include family involvement, education for the patient and their families, and comprehensive discharge planning.

To qualify for admission, patients must be age 55 or older, or a resident of a licensed Nursing Facility. Patients with the following illnesses or symptoms may benefit from the treatment program offered by Senior Haven.

  • Actions that Demonstrate an Intention to Harm Themselves or Others
  • Changes in Appetite
  • Changes in Sleep Patterns
  • Confusion
  • Dementia with Behaviors
  • Depression
  • Medication Misuse
  • Significant Behavioral Changes

In order to fully participate in the therapeutic benefits of group therapy and social activities, patients must be physically stable and cleared for admission by their primary care provider. We schedule visiting hours so that our patients can foucs on group therapy/activities as they work to reach the overall goal of feeling better.   

The program goal is for patients to achieve an acceptable behavioral baseline.  Patients are up, out of bed, and active during the day to ensure socialization with others and improve sleep habits.

The Stepping Stone at White River Medical Center is an acute adult inpatient mental unit that specializes in treating patients 18 to 55 years of age. Our patients are admitted for treatment of anxiety, depression, and/or other mental health conditions. Our staff is committed to helping patients by utilizing a safe and structured therapeutic environment. At The Stepping Stone at White River Medical Center, patients are treated respectfully, are safe, and receive treatment specific to their individual needs. 

What You Can Expect

The Stepping Stone at White River Medical Center provides a total therapeutic environment and a individualized treatment programs. The emphasis is on group, family, and educational and activity therapies that focus each patient as a unique individual. A highly qualified, multidisciplinary staff provides comprehensive treatment-oriented activities, and serves as role models to help all patients develop interpersonal communication skills and healthy relationships. Open communication is encouraged between staff and patients, and everyone's opinion is respected. The average patient stay is six days.

Emotional Well Being

There may be times in your life where daily struggles pose challenges to your emotional well-being. At WRHS Behavioral Health Clinic, we provide outpatient mental health treatment for adolescents and adults to improve mental wellness. WRHS Behavioral Health Clinic participates in Medicare and most major insurance plans. The clinic is located at 2230 Harrison Street in Batesville and can be reached by phone at (870) 698-2100.

WRHS Behavioral Health Clinic patients seek treatment for conditions including, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, environmental related stressors, and difficulty coping with life’s challenges. Our approach is based on dignity and respect for the people we serve and the belief that mental health disorders are treatable. Treatment plans are individualized to meet your needs and may include medication and/or therapy.

Providers

Detox Program

White River Health's medically supervised detoxification program helps adults (age 18 & older) safely detox from abuse of substances such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opiates (oxycodone, hydrocodone, heroin, etc.)  Our team closely monitors and cares for patients during withdrawal to ensure the process is as comfortable and safe as possible.  The patient stay in detox is usually three days.  Admission to our detox unit is voluntary. Patients may reach out by calling or texting the National Crisis line at 988, call our Intake Specialist at  (870) 262-1416, and seek treatment at the Emergency Department for help.
