Stone County Medical Center is proud to offer advanced radiologic services for men, women, and children of all ages. Whether screening for early detection or diagnosing a current condition, our Radiologists and technologists provide medical imaging using equipment best suited to your needs. Imaging studies are ordered by your physician and interpreted by Board Certified Radiologists. A report with results is sent to your physician who will review the results with you and recommend a treatment plan as needed.
Diagnostic Radiology
- CT (Computed Tomography) is a diagnostic imaging procedure that produces cross section images per rotation when scanning blood vessels, bones, organs, and soft tissues. Images may be taken using contrast, a special dye injected into a vein to highlight areas of the body being examined.
- CT Angiography (CTA) - Used to diagnose and/or monitor blood vessel disease, aneurysms, blockages, or similar conditions.
- Low-Dose Lung CT — Detects abnormalities in the chest using less ionizing radiation than a conventional CT scan.
- Large Bore MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) – Used to evaluating injuries, tumors, and degenerative disorders of the bones, joints, and surrounding soft tissues by employing magnetic energy and radio waves to produce detailed images of internal body structures. High-field, large-bore scanners provide a more comfortable experience for patients of all sizes due to the extra-large bore architecture. MRI does not require ionized radiation.
- Digital Mammography — Creates an image of the breast using low-dose x-ray.
- Ultrasound (Sonography) – Uses sound waves to create detailed images of internal organs. Ultrasound does not use ionizing radiation and provides clear images of soft tissues better than x-ray.
- X-Ray – Creates images of internal structures inside the body to diagnose illness or injury. X-rays use a small amount of ionizing radiation to produce images and is a safe for most patients.
